These are the narrative portions of the Reed City PD and Osceola County Sheriff's department first responder's reports, which include the only descriptions of their activities and what they found at the Janette Roberson crime scene when they arrived.
Based on interviews, I have learned that there was approximately an hour between the time Janette Roberson was found in the basement pet department of the Gambles store and the time the State Police Detective and the crime scene technician arrived on scene. There is very little documentation as to what occured during that time. The reports below make up all that is available in that regard.

Man, are they allowed to cut so much? And a lot of what is there is poorly written. I can't wait to read this book.
They shouldn't be allowed to hold back that much after over 30 years! Absurd.
I would tend to agree. I would also note that it doesn't seem logical that they'd be holding back that much if their likely suspect was dead, which has been one of the many rumors around this case. I suspect if that were the case, it would be a heck of a lot easier and would clear up a lot for the Reed City citizens who want to know what happened, to just release the information. I think it suggests that their suspects/persons of interest are, in fact, still alive.
Either that or maybe a prominent citizen of the community. At least that is a rumor I heard.
Yes, the "prominent citizen" and "local businessman" theory I heard a lot while researching. I think that may have started because a local psychic, Viola Rehkopf, said she believed the killer was a prominent businessman.
If Viola said it, I believe it! She was very accurate with other theories/predictions!
Or a police officer. If not one of the store owners.
